What’s in the Box: Basil, heirloom slicing tomato (variety), rainbow cherry tomatoes(orange, red, yellow, white, black), garlic, summer squash, yellow storage onion, eggplant, green pepper, red pepper, hot wax pepper, celery, leeks, and kale.
What’s going on at the farm: It was a fairly hot week and dry again so there was lot’s of watering going on this week with tender greens and roots germinating in the fields even moisture is very important in their early stages of growth. Cherry tomatoes seem to have hit their peak this week as the temps climbed and pushed the fruit to ripen faster. Taking quite a bit of time just to pick them every day or two in this weather. September is the last month of delivery for bi-weekly members as we finish up the tenth and last drop on week twenty which will be September 25th(Tuesday), and 27th(Thursday). Full season members go 21 weeks until Thursday October 11th. Basically the end of the season is rapidly approaching and it looks like we have the same amount of time to get the farm cleaned up of all mulch irrigation, twine, trellis clips, etc…. fall is time to chisel plow and cover crop for us as well. Still planning on planting more roots and greens as well this week for fall, and early winter. Considering adding a limited amount of fall/winter shares but not sure where the demand would be highest for fall/winter shares. Please let us know if your interested in a late season share option. Our annual farm potluck party is Sunday the 9th folks, hope to see many of you out here!!!
