What’s in the Box: Green filet beans, heirloom slicing tomato (variety), rainbow cherry tomatoes(orange, red, yellow, white, black), garlic, summer squash, sweet yellow onion, long of tropea red onion, eggplant, green pepper, sweet peppers(sweet chocolate, red, sweet banana), fennel, and swiss chard.
What’s going on at the farm: This week we trimmed back our heirloom tomatoes heavily in hopes of forcing them to concentrate on fruit set over the next month. The more normal temps this week helped push our cherry tomatoes and beans along further and we spent quite a bit of time as usual picking these crops along with an abundant crop of peppers pouring in. We ripped plastic beds out of the ground from some summer crops. We planted lettuce mix, arugula, radish, broccoli raab, and red spinach as well this week. Plowing and planting will continue this week in beds we have prepared over the last several weeks. Turnips, mustard greens, cilantro, and savoy spinach are on the list to plant. Remember our farm party is the weekend after Labor day. It’s going to be Sunday the 9th and an e-mail coming with details for sure this week. Hope you enjoy the shares everyone!
