What’s in the Box: Potatoes (red), broccoli raab, radish, yellow storage onions, sweet banana peppers, , green pepper, delicata winter squash, kale.
What’s going on at the farm: The 2012 season is almost done and this weeks shares contain the last of the onions, potatoes, and the pickings are getting slim out there with the limited light, and cool temps this time of year. Expect lot’s of crispy greens for salads for the last week and hopefully everyone has a nice little stockpile of onions, garlic, potatoes, etc… from all the food distributed over the season. We are almost done with clean up work and looking at finishing up repair projects that got skipped in the bustle of the season. Some of these projects included planting garlic which is done in late October, finishing clean up in the field and greenhouses, and repairs and touch ups to the greenhouses. We also bring in our potting soil for next season by early November. There was not enough interest in fall shares this year to commit to it but I am planning on starting to get the word out earlier next year so we can finally go ahead and do a few late season shares. I will be attending winter market in Madison occasionally at the Wil-Mar center on Tuesdays from 4-7PM, Oct 16th to around Christmas if you want to stop out, its a nice market. More info on sign up for next season coming next week so be sure to stay tuned and enjoy the last couple shares of the year folks!
