Basic Share Week 19
What’s in the Box:
This weeks best guess is Red russian kale, radish, arugula, yellow storage onions, butternut squash (bi-weekly only), eggplant, green pepper, serrano chile pepper, mustard greens, garlic, tomatillo, and oregano. Sweet white turnips may also make the box this week.
What’s Going on at the Farm:
This week marks the final pick up for Bi-Weekly members only. Thanks to everyone who joined us for a half season/share this year! Hopefully you enjoyed the produce/experience and will join us for another fruitful season next year.
There is a waiting list on line for those who would like to secure a spot for next year and members are encouraged to sign up for the following season anytime after the regular season ends. Regular season members hold on to your saute pans because we still have three weeks of shares coming your way.
This week on the farm we are of course still harvesting lots of food and cleaning up around the farm. Some crops we still expect to have coming for the end of the season are sweet white turnips, daikon radish, watermelon radish, bell peppers, purple top turnips, tomatillo, leeks, potatoes, garlic, celeriac, and lots of fresh salad and braising greens. We are hoping to get a huge picking of ground cherries soon as well but it all depends on the weather. Hopefully the veggies will provide for lots of delicious soups, roasted veggies and salads for these cool fall days. Enjoy!Roots Down Community Farm
