What’s Going on at the Farm:
This week on the farm we cleaned up the strawberry fields again and they are looking great. We are picking hundreds of pounds of cherry tomatoes a week right now and the green beans are just setting as well which makes for lots of field time picking these items. Summer onions were harvested and they are curing in the greenhouse before the storage onions come out of the field next week. Our rented hoop house was cleaned out of melon vines and prepped for a spinach planting this next week as well. We only have a short window before our time is up for using this space but I am guessing you would all appreciate another round of spinach this fall right? Our first winter squash were harvested this week and it looks like we should have some acorn, spaghetti, delicata, and butternut squash this fall as well. Also lettuce, radish, daikon, turnip, and watermelon radish were seeded in the field. This week we will plant spinach, lettuce, arugula, broccoli raab, carrot, turnip, kale and chard. Other exciting items coming soon are sweet italian peppers, chocolate bell peppers and sweet corn.
