Hello CSA Members!
June and summer is here shortly as we finish up the last few weeks of spring with Memorial day week and some great produce for you! We’ve got a great crop mix this week for you despite the cool and very dry spring. Strawberries are still waiting for some heat to develop and ripen, not seeing the crop we worked so hard for perform is a bit frustrating for me but looks like the weather will finally warm up into the 80s this week and maybe stay there. Hopefully we will get rain in there also. That would help the tomatoes, and strawberries and zucchini grow faster. This week I am doing a lot of weeding and plowing in weeds and doing some more planting and doing our weekly batch of microgreens and much more harvesting washing and delivering the food for you all. Last week i got eggplant and peppers planted in the greenhouse and some celery planted also.
Radish: Crunchy roots for one more week or so of this planting. a little hotter than last week.
Pea Shoots: Everyone gets these this week. Great for salad sandwiches or on stir fry.
Radish Microgreens: (These are for large shares only this week) spicy micros taste just like a fresh radish but with more nutrition! great on sandwiches, tacos, salad, and really good with chicken salad, egg salad, and potato salad also.
Pea shoots: Sweet and mild with the flavor of a snap pea these are great on sandwiches in salads and on top of asian bowls or stir fries.
Green onions: These tasty scallions can be used anywhere, don’t overcook them, you can use them raw or add them near the end of a stir fry for some great flavor.
Crunchy Lettuce: Our fantastic lettuce is both crunchy and leafy with a corse chop its ready for use!
Baby Kale: The first pick off our outdoor kale is the early smaller leaves i will be trimming the plants back a bit this week before bunching full size.
Thanks everyone and enjoy the early summer crops! There is just not enough time in a day even with these longest days of the year coming up right now. I have been working all day every day to keep up but that’s the norm for me. I hope you all eat well from the crops I’ve provided this week and be well! -Kyle
