Hello CSA Members!
Summer crops are coming in and along with your cucumber and zucchini the tomatoes are starting to ripen and it won’t be long before there are enough for shares. I have to say late as it is the tomatoes are looking large and uniform so far. Here is the crop list for this week!
Celery: One of the veggies we have customers come back for over and over again our celery is the best around you can taste the mineral flavors and the goodness in every bite and its great for your cellular health! Use it for stir fry, stew, roast, or even juicing!
Zucchini: A summer staple which can be made into so many different dishes.
Cucumber: These crispy summer fruits are hydrating! enjoy them chilled with onions and vinegar sugar for a great summer salad.
Curly Kale: A staple in the garden and our csa boxes as we try to include some greens in every share this kale is a real producer and the frilly leaves make great kale chips or salad. Juice it, sauté it or just massage it in a little oil to make a salad.
Micro Greens: Our micro green this week is Radish micros, they have a great spicy flavor that is great for salads, i’veused them on tacos or in salad and great on potato salad chicken salad and egg salad sandwiches with these as a base!
Its been super busy around here as we pace ourselves through the heat and canadian fire smoke and drought. We are in moderate to severe drought conditions here as my area has had rain miss it for years now even the weeds are dying off with no moisture. it takes all the water i have right now to keep the main crops going through drought. I hope to have a lot of radishes and greens on the way for you all for the end of the year hopefully because i’ve been working hard at seeding and growing more food! I hope you all enjoy the crops everyone, we will keep on harvesting and as fall approaches planting a few more things for late season and cleaning up and mowing weeds down. If I have enough I may add eggplant or cherry tomatoes to shares but they are coming in slow yet. Thank you all for being CSA members!
