We are all the way to week seventeen this week! This is the last week for bi-weekly members! Full season Basic and Standard Members will have one more week of shares, and market CSA members will be able to use their balance up until the last market we attend which is different for each market. E Side Market will go until the end of October but I may take a week off before then depending on the weather, while Dane County goes outdoors until November 13th before moving indoors at Monona Terrace for the holiday markets and Garver for late winter market after the new year. I really hope everyone enjoyed the season and all the veggies! Thank you to all the bi-weekly share members for being a part of the farm this year and I hope to see you back again next year. Members will be able to sign up for the next season anytime after I update the site and this season ends which will be very soon but most people sign up between November and April although I always encourage early sign ups as it helps us prepare and get started again. I will be in touch by email to let everyone know when the site is ready to take sign ups for next season. We’ve got some good food for you for the week including late summer sweet peppers so here is this weeks crop list.
Cherry tomatoes: Plenty of cherry tomatoes coming in yet so enjoy them while the warm weather is still here. double portions for large shares this week!
Garlic: It was one of our best garlic years for sure for us. Lots of garlic for large shares this week to help you stock up for fall and winter cooking.
Curly Kale: Protein packed greens for smoothies, kale chips, stir fry, and more we may include red or green kale this week.
Sweet Peppers: These have been producing well and we have at least this week for red pepper and hopefully through the last week for full season member as well.
Collard Greens: Great for slow cooking with pork, these are best when cooked low and slow so might work well in a crock pot stew with some beef also.
Celery: Our Celery is a little smaller this week as we are thinning out the plants. the thinner stalks are still great for soup, stew, stir fry, juicing, and even as saute greens with the tops for pasta dishes.
Microgreens: Pea shoots will be our micro this week and probably the last time for them this year. Sweet and mild they can be used for salads, sandwiches, top off soups, on top of smashed avocado toast and more.
Radish: We have fresh red radish for you all this week and we are going to double the amount for large and bi weekly shares. You can eat these raw or cook them to make them more mild roasted with other vegetables.
Serrano and Jalapeno Chile Pepper: Some fresh green chilies to spice up your cooking or salsa
Thank you again to all bi-weekly CSA Members. I hope you enjoyed the season and the crops and have some healthy dinners at home with your families! Full season members i’ll see you this week and next!
