Greetings members! I hope everyone is enjoying the late summer weather, it will only be a few short weeks until we are tearing out the tomato vines from the greenhouses. This week on the farm I tilled in a lot of weeds, weedwacked a lot of weeds, and we cleaned up plastic mulch and drip line. I also planted a lot for fall and winter! Here is the rundown for week 15 and our last share of August!
Cherry tomatoes – Our cherry tomato blend is truly a farm and customer favorite, enjoy these fruits while we have them and plenty of them this week with he heat wave! whew its hot out here!
Sweet Pepper: These sweet red peppers are great for stuffed peppers with ground beef and rice and cheese! Thats my favorite way to eat them but I also like them roasted on the grill.
Serrano Chile- Just the right amount of spicy to add to your favorites dishes we will be aiming to give everyone a hot pepper or two in their share. Carefully remove the seeds to make even less mild but the oils can be hot so do keep that in mind before handling them.
Garlic: Savory and healthy for our bodies, garlic is so good with anything you can dream up.
Kale: Curly Kale bunches for your salads, sautés and more, kale is a high protein veggie!
Microgreens: Our micro green this week is either pea pr sunflower shoots! Enjoy these nutritionally dense greens for salads, stir fry and more!
Radish: Fresh french breakfast radishes great for salads and snacking.
Mesclun Salad Mix: Our full size salad mix this week is a mesclun mix which contains arugula, red mustard, mizuna, kale, and green mustard. It makes amazing salad or you can lightly sauté it quickly to wilt the greens.
Week 15 is the second to last drop for bi weekly members and three weeks remain after this week in general just to give everyone a heads up on the end of the CSA season approaching. Were gonna keep trucking to end the season as best we can after this long haul since we started working every day in February but three more weeks to go after this delivery for full season members and one more for bi-weekly on week 17.
