What’s in the Box: Heirloom slicing tomato (variety), rainbow cherry tomatoes(orange, red, yellow, white, black), cabbage(green), garlic, summer squash and zucchini (assorted types), basil, sweet yellow onion, eggplant, and collard greens.
What’s going on at the farm: Finally we got rain! This last week we got almost two inches as a major storm front pushed through southern WI. It’s so nice to not have to worry about irrigation for at least a short spell. Still lot’s of mowing and weeding going as we attempt to get rid of most all the weeds before they seed. We will be planting some very large winter squash transplants this week, and likely pulling all our summer onions out of the ground for curing in the coming week. There was more tomato clipping, pruning of course and the tomatoes are looking just great. Some crops which are coming real soon include green filet beans, which may make the box this week. They are setting beans over the last several days but next week is more likely for them. They are a delicious seedless green bean also known as haricot vert. Red cabbage is coming soon as well along with many different peppers, tomatillo, melons, leeks, and, celery.
