Hello CSA members!
This is the last week for the 2025 CSA season. It’s always a mix of feelings for me because it’s been so much work putting so much thought, heart, time and energy into it every day since February. There is still much to do at the farm and markets continuing through October and even Mid November for the outdoor portion of Dane County Farmers Market and beyond at indoor market. If you all need any veggies come see me at the market stands! Market share members can still use their market shares through the end of the market season until new years including at the indoor DCFM at the Monona Terrace before we move to Garver Feed Mill. Soon I will update the website to add sign up for next season and I will let you all know when that is ready. Thank you all so much for being CSA members, I am grateful for your commitment to my small farm and to be able to grow you and your families healthy food to nourish you and your family in an environmentally friendly way while raising a family at the same time. Here are this weeks crops.
Cherry Tomatoes: These are going strong thanks to one of the new greenhouse I finished a few years ago now. In the past our outdoor cherry tomatoes would pitter out in early August usually to disease or end up tasting watered down so this give us up to two extra months of cherry tomatoes to enjoy and much better quality! Double portions for large shares on these.
Yellow Carrot: our star of the year, carrots outshined all other crops, probably cause i spent so many hours weeding them! love me a good sweet crunchy carrot and I hope you’ve enjoyed them also! They have been the star of this 2025 season besides the microgreens and tomatoes IMO.
Sweet Pepper and Green Pepper: The peppers are ripening still but we are getting smaller ones now, these sweet red peppers are the still the best flavored peppers i’ve found ever partially red so ill pick as many as i have to to get you all a few of these this last week!
Garlic: Our garlic is savory and well cured and good for fighting bad cholesterol and seasonal colds so boost your immune system going into fall!
Microgreens: Our micro green this last week is Pea Shoots! These are the classic micro we started with growing micros here at the farm years and years ago and perfect for sandwiches or salads either way
Hot pepper: We have serrano and red cayenne chilies for you to end the summer CSA season with a little heat!
Kale: Curly kale, the most lovely of greens packed with proteins, and great for tanning also I learned this year! Our kale is still looking great going into fall!
Thats all our crops for the last week! If the heatwave this week provides enough eggplant or tomato i may add that to shares but they have slowed down a lot! Thank you again for being CSA members this season! It’s been a pleasure to grow for you and feels great to feed the community and have you all as part of it and i’m thankful for you all! We had a great season and I hope you all enjoyed the food. It means a lot to me since i’ve devoted myself to building a farm from scratch 19 years ago! That means next year is my 20th anniversary farming!!! Thanks again from everyone here at the farm and I’ll let you all know when the next CSA season sign up is open! until then come visit the market stand for any veggies you may need and be well! I’ll see you for year 20 next season! Thank you all. -Kyle
