Welcome to week 8 we have some new crops like kohlrabi and beets coming in for you all, all the work and stress is starting to catch up to me but I’m plowing on if you will. I got the eggplant and pepper greenhouse cleaned up in the heat of the greenhouse day this week pulling weeds and filling in gaps where plants didn’t make it and laying irrigation down to keep them soaked through summer. I’m still working on tying up all the tomato vines in the cherry tomato greenhouse and they are flowering but still a few weeks away from fruit since we had late frost damage on our first crop but i’m plug-ing away getting the second crop to fruiting stage. I also tilled in weeds this week and planted cucumbers directly into the ground because squirrels have been eating the other seeds i try to start lately right out of the trays so i’m giving it a shot a different way, the cucumbers will be late if they make it but better late than never.
Kale- This week we will have the blue Lacinato Kale which is preferred by chefs for best flavor.
Microgreens- Radish microgreens are looking good, i got some new harvesting shears this week and its making a big difference in yield for me so thats great!
Beets- This week we will have our first beets and they are looking delish, This week we will harvest the red beets for you all, they are so sweet and the greens are fantastic also sautéed as you would cook spinach or chard for a rich side green dish or in place of spinach in your favorite recipe.
Kohlrabi- This week we have purple kohlrabi for you all to switch it up from green last week just peel and enjoy these crispy sweet roots sliced or grate them into salad
Lettuce Mix- This mix is great for your salads with micros kohlrabi or beets maybe?
