Hello CSA Members! This is going out a little late but i’ve been so busy working on all these tasty crops there’s been little time to write. my hands are aching from moving fast through harvest after harvest in the heat and weeds upon weeds! This week we are passing summer solstice and enjoying the fourth of July I just hope it cools down a tad! I hope these veggies were harvesting tomorrow for you all will fill a lot of happy plates this holiday week! This week I have the following crops for you all including:
Curly Kale: A backbone of our greens supply its great for kale chips with its extra curly texture.
Microgreens: Everyone will get at least one container of micro mix, broccoli, or radish greens.
Scallions: These sweet green onions with small white bulbs are great raw in salad stir fry or maybe on cream cheese bagels with or without salmon for a treat?
Swiss Chard: A Tasty bunching green good for sautéing as you would spinach. Beet greens are pretty similar which you will receive next week so practice with your chard for beet greens next week!
Kohlrabi: Crispy bulbs with tops trimmed as they are not good for much and we had some damage on the tops however the bulbs look nice and ready to enjoy. simply peel and slice to enjoy raw with your favorite cheese is one of my favorite ways to eat these. large shares will get two!
Lettuce Heads: for Large Shares we are adding some romaine lettuce
Happy Holiday week to everyone as we head into summer i’ll be attempting to keep up with the weeds and the harvests and the trellising and pruning and microgreens production! i’m letting the beets and greens size up more this week we will have some delicious beets next week! Have fun and enjoy the fresh veggies, thanks all! -Kyle
