Prior to getting our CSA share from Roots Down, my husband and I would routinely spend $50 a week at the farmers market. Once we figured out that a 21 week CSA share of fresh, organic, local vegetables cost less than 5 weeks of farmer’s market produce, we signed up instantly. The early season basic share was plenty to feed two adults on a mostly vegetarian diet, sometimes quite full, with plenty to share with other friends. Kyle was constantly looking for honest feedback and requests from us regarding our happiness with the selection. And the greatest benefit of all was having produce in our home that was so fresh, it would last for weeks – if it ever went uneaten that long. The only bad part about our CSA share was that it ended. We can’t wait for spring.
There are many great reasons for being involved in a CSA. I believe the best of which is making a commitment for yourself to lead a healthier lifestyle. That in and of itself will open up a whole new world of possibilities for making positive changes in your life and for those around you.
My fiance and I joined Roots Down after reading an article in the Janesville Gazette. I was so excited to find a local organic farm. Kyle answered my questions via email and was very friendly when we arrived at the farm. His passion is evident when he speaks and by the sparkle in his eyes. It is life's passion to share the goodness of the earth and his hard labor with everyone. The vegetables are delicious and I have enjoyed using the MACSAC cookbook for ideas. We as a family look forward to staying with Roots Down and watching them grow!
My 12 year old son loved the simple greens soup! I couldn't believe it. We have been eating organic for awhile because the quality and taste is superior. Also, my youngest son is autistic, so we worry about toxins in his food and enviroment. I was so happy when I found Roots Down Farm. We have been so pleased with our fresh yummy produce. I can't wait until tomorrow when we get our next share! Thank you so much Kyle and team for doing this for my family. We really appreciate all your hard work, and the difference you're making in our lives.
Joining a CSA was one of the smartest things I have ever done. After my heart attack I wanted to eat healthier so I joined Roots Down Community Farm CSA. The vegetables are always fresh and delicious and it has been so much fun trying things we have never had before. Some of those things have become our favorite vegetables. The best part though is that I have lost a lot of weight by eating all those veggies.

Roots Down is our family farm. We used to have a farm years ago. Now Kyle and his family present a wonderful variety of fresh vegetables through their CSA. We chat about recipes and enjoy more variety than when we grew our own.
